Rolls Royce: 1949 Silver Wraith
The Silver Wraith was the first car to be manufactured by Rolls Royce after the war. It has a 4.6 litre I6 engine and a 133 inch wheel base, and the model remained pretty much unchanged throughout the 1950s.
Its classic elegance made it the Ceremonial State Car of choice for the Irish and Brazilian presidents as well as the Dutch and Danish royal families.
The Silver Wraith also has a distinguished film career. Best remembered in The Return of the Pink Panther in 1975, it also appeared in James Dean, Batman and Arthur among others.
Indeed, our own vehicle was once owned by Joan Collins.
Daimler: 1986 DS420 Limousine
Although the Daimler DS420 was manufactured for 24 years from 1968 to 1992, only just over 4000 were ever made. This executive 7 seater limousine has a 4.2 litre XK engine and a 141 inch wheel base, and is also pretty nippy, with a top speed of 110mph. We will get you to the church on time, but not quite that fast!
Like the Rolls Royce, the Daimler also has an extensive royal pedigree: Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth II owned three of the last 4 ever made. The very last one is, as most last-of-line Jaguars are, kept by the Jaguar Heritage Trust. The Queen Mother has owned five DS420 Daimlers consecutively, from 1970 on. Her last one is now also at the Jaguar Heritage Trust.
Our vehicle is believed to have seen active service at Buckingham Palace and still bears the flagpole for the Royal Standard. Imagine ribbons in your own colours with your names fluttering on that same flagpole.
Daimler: 1983 DS420 LimousineWe have recently added this beautiful 1983 DS420 Daimler to our fleet to give you maximum choice. All our cars are painted in the same classic ebony and cream to match each other and complement any outfit. Among the previous owners is Bristol City Council, so although we can't boast any royalty or film stars, we're fairly certain that a lord mayor or two has arrived in a car befitting his office.
