About this deal
Practice sun safety. Light-colored, thin-haired, or hairless dogs are at risk of sunburn. Limit time outside when the UV index is high, and apply dog-friendly sunscreen whenever possible, particularly around delicate areas like the nose and ears.
In addition to considering your dog’s like (or dislike) of water and the size of your outdoor space, you should select a pool that is the right size for your dog. Measure your pup’s length from nose to hind flank and their height to select the proper size pool. Cool-down cubes are perfect for dogs in hot climates and let every doggo get in on the fun, including those with joint issues. The only pups we wouldn’t recommend them to are super chewers who may try to bite off more than they can chew (literally) and break a tooth. Pupper playgrounds and DIY dog agility courses have a lot of similarities, but they also have a few key differences.Add food. Almost every dog (and person) would agree that food makes everything better. So, keep some high-value dog training treats on hand and implement them into your pup’s new adventure. Hidden treats are especially appreciated and add a sensory aspect to play.
Watch for overheating. Dogs are still at risk of overexertion and heat stroke while playing with water, especially those who don’t get entirely wet. Brachycephalic (short-faced) breeds like pugs are particularly susceptible to such temperature extremes. Keep outdoor play brief during high temperatures, and monitor your pup for excessive panting, lethargy, and vomiting. As with water toxicity, overheating is a veterinary emergency. Once the pipes are in place, you need to attach the hose to the water pump. Make sure that the hose is fitted tightly so that there are no leaks.
